Many employers maintain a zero tolerance for drug use. If you believe you are in need of help with a drug use and are jeopardizing your future employment.

Although you may believe that what you do on your own time is no business of your employer, risky behaviors “off-the-clock” can have a negative impact on your employment.

If you have used a medication without a written prescription from a doctor, such as Vicodin for pain, you may be putting your employment at risk. If your employer randomly screens you for drug use and prescription medication is found in your system and you are unable to provide evidence of a doctor’s written prescription, your employer may consider you in noncompliance with the company’s drug use policy.
