Job Description

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The purpose of the Facility Compliance and Patient Safety Coordinator is to provide a supporting role in Infection Control, Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Compliance at Findlay Surgery Center. This position assists in developing and managing events, activities, and projects in regard to the needs of the facility. This position will effectively gather and organize materials for meetings, Joint Commission, ODH, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies while working as a liaison for Findlay Surgery Center to organizational partners. This position will assist in the day to day operations of the center.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: Supports risk management and participates in programs directed to patient employee safety. Develops and recommends effective data collection and evaluation systems to identify opportunities to improve patient care.

Duty 2. Works in collaboration with all departments and service lines to provide support at the facility to assure compliance for Joint Commission and CMS standards.

Duty 3. Oversees the development, implementation, and sustainment of patient safety initiatives and system improvements. Serves as a resource for clinical departments on issues of patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Duty 4. Maintains and promotes professional competence by participating in and organizing continuing education and other learning experiences. Organizes teaching programs in the facility for associates and physicians on topics of special interest and pertinent to outpatient surgery.

Duty 5. Demonstrates a willingness to look at new ideas and work in a changing environment. Supports initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance.

Duty 6. Understands, verbalizes, and participates in quality improvement process.

Duty 7. Manages Life Safety Assessment documentation and task due dates. Gathers and analyzes data to compile accurate reports and provides recommendations for improvement. Monitors and adheres to deadlines to assure timeliness of reporting. Manages annual Hazard Vulnerability analysis (HVA).

Duty 8. Develops and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to associate and patient safety program. Ensures policies are consistent with organizational practices and regulatory compliance.

Duty 9. Monitors infection control practices and employee compliance on a monthly basis. Participates in infection control performance improvement activities within the organization. Keeps informed of new and revised guidelines, regulations, laws, and issues pertaining to Infection Control and Prevention on an ongoing basis in order to serve as a resource for all departments and personnel, to prevent and control infections.

Duty 10. Listens respectfully, gives feedback directly, honestly and talks with others to clarify differences. Demonstrates accountability, skill, and knowledge to practice within scope of position responsibilities. Demonstrates an above average ability to organize, prioritize, analyze, anticipate, interpret, evaluate and problem solve to provide a safe, effective and functional environment.

Duty 11. Coordination, as required by law with federal, state, and local emergency preparedness and health authorities to address communicable and infectious disease threats and outbreaks. Compliance with reportable disease requirements of the local health authority.

Duty 12. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Current Ohio RN License (Graduate of an approved school of nursing)
* Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
