Job Description

Position Summary


The Coordinator plans, implements, and assesses programs that foster connections among students in order to create a sense of belonging and to enhance career and life readiness.  The Coordinator will directly advice the campus programming board (i.e., University Activities Organizations) as well as manage Falcons After Dark (i.e., a late-night program initiative).  This position will also assist with campus-wide programming (e.g., Falcon Family Weekend, Homecoming, and Senior Week) to engage a diverse student body as well as other University constituents. 



Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities


  • Design, execute, and assess the weekly Falcons After Dark on-campus programming series to engage students and help to foster a sense of belonging at BGSU. 
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of special University-wide special events (i.e., Fall Welcome, Homecoming, Falcon Family Weekend, and Senior Week). 
  • Advise the University Activities Organization in their efforts to engage the general student body (e.g., excursions, lunchtime music series, and other themed events). 
  • Leverage technology to promote and monitor student involvement in out of class programs and activities as well as to inform University persistence and retention initiatives
  • Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned contracted graduate and undergraduate students, volunteer practicum graduate students, student office assistants, and/or interns.
  • Participate and represent the University, Division, and department on committees and at official functions.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Director of Student Engagement and complete other duties as assigned.



Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Pay Grade 353. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefits package available.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience in group presentations and writing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated skills as a team player.
  • The ability to work frequent night and weekend hours
  • Experience with Presence, or other comparable software platform(s)


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.  Degree must be conferred at the time of application.

The following experience is required:

  • Six months experience working in Student Affairs*
  • Six months experience planning programs*

*2 years’ experience as a graduate student equals one year of professional experience                              

The following experience is preferred:

  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field;
  • Six months experience advising student organizations
  • Six months experience developing and executing late night and weekend programming models
  • Six months experience in creating innovative programs that engage first- and second-year students, transfer students, and commuter students
  • Six months experience assessing student needs, satisfaction, and measures of direct learning
