Job Description
POSITION: Health Educator 1 – Full Time (35 hours/week)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Health educators are responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating health education/promotion programs in Seneca County with the goal of improving the public’s health. This position is currently focused on implementing strategies that increase local residents’ access to naloxone through Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone) and the Integrated Naloxone Access and Infrastructure grant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (See position description on our website for more details):
- Prepares grant applications and reports.
- Plans public health programs and activities as assigned.
- Implements and evaluates public health programs and activities as assigned.
- Serves as a liaison for the Health District in the community by participating on community coalitions, committees, and task forces.
- Promotes Health District programs and services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Travel to off-site locations; Works a full-time schedule; regular hours are 8 AM-4:30 PM, occasional evening or weekend events; Lift, climb, bend, twist, kneel, squat, push, roll, and support up to 55 pounds; Sit, stand, stoop, and/or walk; Use a keyboard and other technology; Operate a motor vehicle.
COMPENSATION
Pay Grade: 5; range of $20.18-$27.13 per hour, based on experience.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education/promotion, health sciences, or related fields; CHES certification and/or master’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited program and registration/licensure to practice in the state of Ohio, if applicable.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and groups from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds, cultures, socio-economic status, interests, and experiences.
- Requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and successfully complete background check at own expense prior to employment through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation as per Ohio S.B. 38.
