WOOD COUNTY, OHIO 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Human Resources Coordinator  PAY GRADE: 7
DEPARTMENT:  Wood Haven Health Care  STATUS:  Classified, FLSA Non-Exempt

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION 

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and administer all personnel related functions for the agency.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

In addition to consistent and reliable attendance, the following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.  Refer to the Comprehensive Position Questionnaire (CPQ) for this position for percentages of time.

 

Coordinates and participates in the recruitment and selection activities including preparing job postings, scheduling interviews, checking personal qualifications against job requirements, investigating references and referring qualified applicants to supervisory personnel; interviews applicants; maintains application files; develops recruitment strategies and develops retention programs; forecasts staffing needs and trends.

 

Conducts new employee orientations; maintains and updates employee required new hire paperwork; conducts exit interviews.

 

Processes, calculates, and performs data entry for payroll accounting system; processes requests for leave and benefit hours; enters exception reports into payroll database; processes, prepares, and calculates payroll, timecards, and printouts; transfers totals from printouts to worksheets and reconciles printouts with worksheets; prepares and calculates payroll summaries.

 

Leads the organization’s safety committee to determine potential risk and develop root cause analysis for safety concerns; conducts investigations related to any work injuries; determines if the situation was preventable; ensures compliance with OSHA standards and provides training; participates on Countywide safety committee.

 

Ensures compliance with County policies, bargaining contracts, and all applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and safety practices; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations; coordinates and administers employee disciplinary process; conducts investigations; develops corrective action plans.

 

Establishes and maintains personnel files; verifies licensure of staff; prepares all other required personnel documents and forms.

 

Coordinates the Family Medical Leave Act process; advises employees related to their options of voluntary disability separation, involuntary separation, etc.; responds to human resource questions from employees. 

 

Provides information on insurance benefits and answers questions regarding coverage; prepares insurance reports concerning employee status and vision reimbursements.

 

Assists in the development and research of facility policies and procedures; updates and maintains employee workrules; coordinates distribution of same to staff.

 

Prepares, writes, updates, reviews, and submits various reports, forms and correspondence.

 

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS 

Conducts various other human resource administrative functions as assigned; serves as a representative on human resource committee; attends other meetings as required.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate and control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.

 

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information.

 

Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may include ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions.

 

Functional Reasoning: Requires ability to apply principles of influence systems. Ability to interpret principles, instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.  Ability to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.

 

Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

 

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight.   Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

 

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

 

Environmental Factors:Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management or related field; supplemented by two years of human resource experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Valid driver’s license required.
