We are seeking a LogisticsManager for our Mars Petcaresite in Leipsic, OH.

The Logistics Manager will develop and lead strategic logistics initiatives which will deliver higher service levels, greater logistics flexibility and capacity, and produce operational efficiencies.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for vendor relationships, inbound logistics, site production scheduling, on-site/regional finished goods inventory management, customer order management, site warehouse management, and finished goods shipments to warehouses. This position will work closely with the Third Party Provider (3PL) who runs the day to day finished good warehouse operation. Build a strong team whose Associates work across functions to deliver overall site objectives while delivering supply chain excellence to the site while maximizing Customer Service. Create an infrastructure and culture of Continuous Improvementand Lean.

What would be your key responsibilities?

    • Manage risk and protect Mars interest with regard to government regulatory requirements, internal quality standards, inventory accuracy and stock rotation.
    • Manage the inbound raw material flow into factory, ensuring the raw material inventory plan meets the production plan
    • Lead the production scheduling operation that maintains at minimum 98.5% case fill rate to customers while balancing factory efficiencies to established TRS and ATS targets.
    • Achieve customer service targets through expediting hold dispositions and completing root cause analysis.
    • Proactively work with customer teams to drive warehouse related service improvements for key customers.
    • Identification, evaluation and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain as well as recommendations on business processes and systems.
    • Develop and implement Supply Chain Strategies in line with the OGSM.
    • Identify and eliminate supply chain constraints to ensure maximum service levels are obtained.
    • Coach and develop leaders and team members to successful results, including identifying training and development needs.
    • Lead the execution of cultural changes and activities needed to support team engagement, HPC and MSE.
    • Maintain contingency plans for time sensitive operations (unscheduled absentees, customer issues, system malfunctions, inventory exceptions, transport equipment issues).
    • Liaison with the Central Planning Team and Customer Care Team and works to maximize customer service metrics within the region.
    • Manage the factory workplace transport program including annual training, inspection, impact monitoring and service agreement with third party.
    • Support Site Traceability, MQM, and HRCI compliance.
    • Ensure inventory accuracy on finished goods.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to implement new computer systems such as SAP and Red Prairie.
    • Negotiate and purchase items required to support outbound logistics activities including forklifts, pallets and the shuttle service.
    • Analyze Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) daily and make scheduling and replenishment revision recommendations.
    • Ensure that all substandard products retained are properly managed and disposition follows Mars QMP.
    • Arrange the least cost transportation for all freight shipments.
    • Coordinate the resolution of potential short inventories between Central Logistics, the FPS Scheduler and Operations.
    • Trouble-shoot and correct system and procedural opportunities.
    • Oversee the yard management tools to ensure the on-site trailer inventory never exceeds the agreed targets.
    • Direct the day to day activities of the shuttle and spotting carrier to ensure they are following agreed procedures and meeting the needs of the business.

Job Requirements

What are we looking for?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or relevant fieldOR high school diploma/GED and ten (10) plus years of relevant Logistics experience required.
    • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPointand business management software like SAP and Red Prairie.
    • Ability to drive positive change in both processes, systems, and culture.
    • Strong internal and external customer focus with great follow-up.
    • Proven leadership skills, coaching and developing leaders, and associates.
    • Three (3) plus years production experience.
    • Three (3) plus years experience in most facets of logistics, including inventory control.
    • Two (2) plusyears experience in managerial role.
