Duties and responsibilities

Set in carriers, spools  and strip out wire, carriers and spools when finished.

Join wire ends with Butt Welder and smooth weld with pliers.

Check quality and perform repair to product.

Change electrodes, tubes and transport wheels, straighten and string line wire and crosswire.

Set side shears, change guide and cutter blocks as needed.

Housekeeping for work area.

Working conditions

Work is performed indoors on all shifts. Must be able to step up and down off of platform and walk around to sides of machines as necessary. Pull wire into fields during setup.  Requires the use of hand tools, bolt cutters, tape measure, micrometer, pen and paper, bander.

Physical requirements

Requires lifting of up to 50 pounds frequently and the pulling or lifting of 75 pounds occasionally.  The incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time. Occasional walking the length of the line.
