Job Description

The Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services has an opening for a Management Information Specialist 1 to maintain computer networks and provide technical support to associates and agency employees.  This individual will also install and configure hardware and software, solve technical problems, and serve as as LSC (Local Security Coordinator) and/or TPOC (Technical Point of Contact).

  • Support and work with the Business & Technology Supervisor
  • Assist with installation, configuration, usability, troubleshooting of system hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, scanners, fax, phone and security system
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal rules/laws
  • Conduct backup operations
  • Respond timely to service issues and requests
  • Set up accounts for new users
  • Repair and replace equipment
  • Test new equipment and technology
  • Train new staff
  • Track and log IT incidents
  • Maintain and update agency website
  • Possess analytical and methodical skills to problem solve
  • Update inventory database
  • Maintain agency’s website including platform and plugin updates, monitor activity, and make changes for application optimization
  • Meet deadlines
  • Manage communications with site visitors and maintain audit trail for completed tasks
  • Provide initial problem determination for computer and telephone problems and suggest fixes
  • Assist and facilitate with repair services
  • Report computer outages
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Perform quality assurance for assigned imaging
  • Assist with computer security
  • Backup for maintenance of agency vehicles
  • Assist with agency data security
  • Attend conferences, workshops and trainings to obtain or maintain knowledge of current regulations

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Undergraduate or two years technical training in computer science or information technology  


  • Undergraduate or major core coursework or
  • Two years technical training in computer science, information technology or similar field or
  • Six months in each of the following:  Visual Basic/VBA, HTML and CSS, logic based mathematics, database concepts (SQL, Microsoft Office), Microsoft Office Suite and basic data processing.
