Job Description

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Materials Manager has the authority and responsibility to direct, coordinate and facilitate all aspects of the plant scheduling, shipping, receiving, purchasing and inventory control. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Delivery, New Part Launches, APQP, engineering changes, enforcing and maintaining hazard communication requirements, enforcing and maintaining 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements, continuous improvement, container control and upkeep.

Responsible for and has the authority to establish the duties and activities of positions that directly and/or indirectly report to him.
Participates in the selection, development, training and discipline of the Materials/Shipping Team Members.
Performs performance appraisals, recommending promotions or other changes in status of the Materials Team Members.
Review and analyze compliance, inventory and material control, customer delivery and satisfaction, inventory turns, purchasing, service and traffic.  Make recommendations to the Operating Team on proposed improvements.
Communicates with Customers, Corporate and Plant personnel to resolve safety, quality and inventory/material concerns.
Supports and maintains compliance to hazard communication requirements as well as TS 16949 & ISO 14001 Systems.
Supports continuous improvement and cost saving activities utilizing lean manufacturing techniques.
Provides support for all scheduling and material functions within the plant, at any corporate facility or location and equipment shops.
Prepares and implements changes to improve plant measurables included in the Midway Operating System (MOS).
Responsible for enforcing and maintaining Company policies and guidelines.
Participates in production, and shift to shift meetings.  Deliver expectations on issues that need specific attention in order to meet customer requirements as well make recommendations on how to accomplish the tasks at hand.
Adheres to all safety regulations.
Responsible for confidentiality, open and honest communications.
Has the authority to stop production operations with respect to safety or quality concerns.
Treats all other Team Members with dignity and respect.
Performs all other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelors of Business (preferred)

Prefer Bachelors degree in business or logistics management.  Prefer 3 years experience with an automotive supplier or equivalent automotive manufacturing background.  (preferred)
