We capture valuable ingredients and nutrients to help maximize what nature has to offer, providing components for a wide range of products, including pet food, livestock feed, fertilizer and biofuel.

Job Summary

The Plant Manager will oversee and participate in operations at our Bakery Feeds facility — will include oversight of safety, quality, production, maintenance, capital planning and execution in a cost-effective manner while meeting all customer requirements. This is a hands-on working position managing other supervisors for a 24 hour operation.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Manages safety program and is ultimately responsible for plant safety; maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
Leads all safety improvement initiatives and creates a safety-based culture.
Supports, mentors and develops plant management and supervisory personnel through regular coaching and formal development tools.
Ensures ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies including, FDA, OSHA, EPA, HACCP and other local and regional agencies.
Prepares daily/weekly reports, analyze financial budgets and take corrective measures as needed.
Maintains efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received and ingredients shipped.
Leads continuous improvement efforts in all areas of responsibility.
Engages in Capital process from project inception, development, prioritization, planning, and execution. Reviews and leads local Capital Projects to ensure compliance and ongoing development of assets for ongoing success and improvement.
Provides proper training of all personnel.
Collaborates with Maintenance Manager on preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment is in good working order to meet ongoing and future business needs.
Assures all finish product shipped is in accordance with all quality standards and specifications.
Effectively manages and reduces energy use at facility.
Manages local purchasing activities.
All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3+ years of prior experience in management/supervision in an industrial setting.
Experience working in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated work experience in one or more of the following:
Continuous Improvement
5S or 6S
Kaizen Events
Lean Manufacturing
Six Sigma

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering, operations management or agribusiness field would be an asset.
Experience in continuous improvement including 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing concepts a definite plus.
Technical background with mechanical aptitude preferred.
Feed Mill operations experience a plus.
Labor relations background and leadership preferred.
Detail oriented; highly organized.
Ability to work well with internal staff.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, excellent analytical skills.
Self-starter; self-motivated.
Good math skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as experience with an ERP like Oracle or SAP.
