Manage the manufacturing quality team in the factory and work with the Central Manufacturing Quality team to develop strategy that delivers the internal and external quality objectives. Develop strategic plans to ensure the long-term product and process capability with robust quality systems. Manage the manufacturing quality data analysis and reporting processes to detect issues early, drive containment actions and develop sustainable corrective actions. Drive the implementation of the World Class Manufacturing system and the evolution of the system. Partner with operations to develop project plans to achieve internal and external quality targets. Manage the execution of Manufacturing Quality Improvement Plans. Manage on-site product and component test labs used to monitor conformance, analyze field data and provide input on production readiness for new products/design modifications. Lead and manage the manufacturing quality team to ensure successful execution of projects and day to day operations. Collaborate with design and process engineering in understanding, implementing and ensuring a flawless execution of Design for Assembly/Design for Manufacturing requirements during new product introduction and ownership related to the ongoing monitoring/audit of the established Design for Assembly (DFA)/Design For Manufacturing (DFM) requirements. Develop the Quality problem solving tools including but not limited to 8D (8 disciplines), 6-sigma, 5W1H (5 whys and 1 how), 5 Whys, and Kaizen (7 steps of problem solving). Manage the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance and continuous improvement and respect to the regulations Support Overall Business Team and Operations objectives. Maintain a dependable and dedicated workforce through open communications, focus, alignment and the ability to drive and sustain changes. Interface with trade partners and suppliers. Select, coach and develop exceptional leaders for the Quality organization. Supervise 20 direct reports holding the following positions: CAL Tech, New Model Coordinator, Process Lead, Solder/Braze Trainer, Lab Technician, Utility Operator, Quality Engineering Tech, Process Engineer Tech, Associate Engineering, and Analyst, Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in the offered position or related position; or Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience in the offered position or related position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be “quantified” by “time”. Required expertise/knowledge includes:
- 5 Why, Kaizen, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Understanding and practical application of fundamental quality tools for problem solving.
- Materials characterization, Ultrasonic testing.
- Failure and Root Cause analysis.
- Project Management skills.
- Statistical Process Control.
