Product Design & Development Engineer
Are you a hands-on engineer that would enjoy creating designs, developing them, and seeing them used in everyday life? As a Product Design & Development Engineer you will be deeply involved in the design, manufacture, and development of tooling to be used in our machinery to cold form components for automobiles, aerospace, ammunition, and consumer products. At National you will be able to participate in projects that change the industry and develop new processes to make difficult parts on machines that manufacture parts at rates of up to 900 parts per minute. This job will require you to interact with Customers, Tool Makers, and Development Technicians. You will be required to be a project leader and guide the team through the successful development of tooling for our state-of-the-art machinery. Because of the diversity of tasks involved with our industry we are looking for candidates with a strong understanding of Mechanical Systems and concepts. We would prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years or more work experience, but are willing to develop an enthusiastic mechanical engineer with an Associate’s Degree. Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
•Associate degree in mechanical engineering field
•Strong problem-solving capabilities
•Proficiency with 3D design software and Microsoft applications
•Must demonstrate an understanding of all parts of machine design, such as dynamics and strength of materials
•Must demonstrate an understanding of GD&T
•Be a “self-starter” wanting to make things happen
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
•3+ years of tool design experience
Work Environment:
•Office environment with daily interaction with Tool Manufacturing and Process Development areas in the shop
