Job Summary
The Quality Manager is an on-site position responsible for managing the overall plant quality system and product testing. This position is responsible for the supervision of a small team of Quality Techs across 3 shifts.

Essential Functions

Represents the plant and Avient in all aspects of professional dealings with customers, the technology community and the commercial group.  Quality Manager for the Avient – North Baltimore, OH facility.
Oversees the manufacturing related processes are in control and that all product produced at the facility meets the requirements of the end-use customer. Supervisor for the Avient – NB Quality Laboratory activities.
Ensures the process conditions are monitored and controlled for product consistency and according to specified conditions. Sets up SAP Inspection plans, IP notes, Cert Profiles, & Process Instructions for products in SAP when new products are ordered based on Technical sample data and customer requirements. Where applicable, makes sure we have the color control for the product.
Ensures that product and process changes are made only according to the sequence of activities specified in the appropriate and related processes and procedures. Maintains quality system and documentation for the plant.
Oversees the testing in accordance to Avient procedures and that all product grading is accomplished in a timely and accurate manner.  Manages the product testing/grading by training Quality Technicians, maintaining current Quality documents (Procedures, Work Instruction, Forms, etc.) in EtQ (Quality System), setting up product specific SAP inspection plans with tolerances and notes.
Resolves and communicates customer complaints, handles technical and quality questions from internal and external sources. Uses EtQ Customer Feedback (Complaints) and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) modules in EtQ to document complaint information and corrective actions. Addresses emailed customer questions and concerns using CSR, Regulatory, Technical (R&D) and/or Commercial assistance, as required.
Coordinates investigation and corrective action on all plant- related customer complaints. Utilizes Quality and Technical personnel and knowledge to investigate complaints and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Assesses training needs and provides training to lab/production employees. Keeps Quality documents up to date in EtQ and uses them for annual training of Quality and ISO 17025 Technicians. Maintains training (documents review schedule) and updates training records.
Owns and manages the process and procedures to maintain certification and applicable regulatory requirements, as needed and assigned, including IATF 16949 and ISO/IEC 17025. Acts as the Management Representative and manages the quality system required to maintain and recertify our current external certifications to IATF 16949 (automotive requirements and ISO 9001 based) and ISO/IEC 17025 (testing accreditation). Acts as the plant representative for our corporate FDM (Food, Drug, & Medical) / GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) program and audits. Acts as the plant contact for our UL Certification. Maintains Quality documentation and participates in Internal & External Audits, Management Review and Business Continuation tests.
Manages plant specific continuous improvement processes, including Quality and Process Engineering projects and system enhancements. Manages the plant master gage list and calibration schedule with an outside vendor. Maintains and purchases necessary lab equipment, test supplies and standards using Ariba and Concur.

Other duties as assigned: 1) Manages the monthly Lab Housekeeping Audits using lab personnel as auditors to keep the laboratory and related storage and work areas clean and organized. 2) Manages ADP ETime for lab personnel. 3) Manages SAP Tech Hold on products scheduled for production. 4) Manages rework of non-conform plastisol materials. Note: This will need to go to Technical person with product knowledge.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
5+ years experience in Manufacturing/ Leadership
5+ years Problem Solving Techniques
Quality System Management with ISO experience, automotive and medical device system management preferred
Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement experience preferred

Additional Qualifications

Software skills; Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, SAP, EtQ, ADP Etime, Ariba and Concur
Demonstrated success with critical communications – internal and external customers to gain alignment and progress toward goal.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions to resolve critical issues Collaborates with Customer Service Representatives, Commercial (Sales),Technical (R&D), Plant Production, Shipping and Maintenance.
