Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Registered Nurse.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) coordinates services for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Wood County. Our mission is to support, empower, and inspire all people. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated problem solver, flexible, detailed oriented and is a team player with time management, organizational skills, and leadership skills. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities RN Quality Assessment Reviews and provider performance processes to ensure quality services and compliance.
  • Conduct technical assistance assessments for providers as appropriate.
  • Maintains a master list of RN QA dates, RN QA reports and files in accordance with Wood County Board of DD procedures and applicable Ohio rules and laws.
  • Consult and collaborate with service and support administration and providers serving in Wood County.
  • Maintains a positive relationship and communication with both. 
  • Conducts training and provides supports to County Board and Providers related to medication administration.
  • Assist in creating and revising Wood County Board of DD policy and procedure as appropriate. 
  • Provide Nursing consultation for County Board and Service Providers on best practices and rules/regulations. 
  • Provides nursing consultation and recommendations to Wood County Board of DD Investigative Agent(s) regarding MUI/UIR/Trends and patterns as appropriate. 
  • Carry out the Pre-admission and Resident Review (PASRR) processes for the Board.
  • Create, instruct and maintain medication administration certification courses in accordance with rules set forth by Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and Ohio Administrative Code.
  • Maintain appropriate files and documentation in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code rule. 
  • Must maintain, in good standing, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities RN Trainer Certification.     
  • Maintain all nursing documentation, nursing records and nursing files within the department and maintain compliance with HIPPA standards. 
  • Responsible for planning, attending, participating in department team meetings and meeting with supervisor. Responsible for creating and tracking outcomes for HSPR nursing services.
  • Process all required documentation for delegation of medication administration and completion of health-related activities for County Board unlicensed certified staff providing services/programs, excluding Wood Lane School. Provide 24 hour on-call support when performing delegated nursing to County Board staff. 
  • Maintaining current knowledge, information and techniques in the field of developmental disabilities and nursing.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Must be 18 years old.
  2. Successful completion of general orientation.
  3. Receipt of seven acceptable background required by ORC 3319.39 & OAC 5123:2-2-02.
  4. Must obtain and maintain any training, licenses, registration, or certification mandated by the Board and the State of Ohio.
  5. Must have a medical examination and a one-step PPD test to determine fitness for duty prior to providing direct care service or within 30 days of employment whichever comes first.
  6. Possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record (if required for position) per board guidelines. NOTE: Use of personal vehicle for transporting individuals requires proof of liability insurance.
  7. Receipt of acceptable criminal background report from Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and county sheriff ‘s office of permanent address before starting position as required by ORC 3319.39 and/or OAC 5123.081.

Education/Experience Requirements

Must maintain appropriate/valid Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse pursuant to Section 4723 of the ORC and any other licenses or certifications mandated. 

Experience working with persons who have DD preferred.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

Must be able to move individuals who are receiving services including adults and children in a safe manner. Must be able to lift, carry and move office supplies, materials, and equipment required for day-to-day operations.

If required by the position you must maintain a current driver’s license in your residing state for the purpose of transporting individuals who are receiving services and/or operation of a Board owned vehicle.
