Shift: 7:30 AM – 2:30 AM
Days Worked: Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri.
Hour Per Week: 35 hours max
Rate of Pay: $12.33 – $12.33

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic School Cook Substitute.

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) coordinates services for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Wood County. Our mission is to support, empower, and inspire all people. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated problem solver, who is a team player with time management and leadership skills. 


Job Responsibilities

Prepares daily meals, packs lunches to be transported, and serves lunches to students.  Works with teachers/assistants who come in the kitchen for teaching aids involving food.  Assists with providing work direction to the Food Service Worker(s) in preparation of meals and cleanup of kitchen and cafeteria.

Assists in cleanup of kitchen and cooking equipment, preparing meals for next day, preparing special lunches for field trips, stocking shelves, freezers, and refrigerators.

Plans, implements and is responsible for the food program for Wood Lane School. 

Responsible for daily receipts, maintain all necessary records and documentation according to all applicable federal, state and location regulations. Keep inventory current.  Order and store all food supplies. Recommend purchase of equipment for the lunch program.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Must be 18 years old.
  2. Successful completion of general orientation.
  3. Receipt of seven acceptable background required by ORC 3319.39 & OAC 5123:2-2-02.
  4. Must obtain and maintain any training, licenses, registration, or certification mandated by the Board and the State of Ohio.
  5. Must have a medical examination and a one-step PPD test to determine fitness for duty prior to providing direct care service or within 30 days of employment whichever comes first.
  6. Possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record (if required for position) per board guidelines. NOTE: Use of personal vehicle for transporting individuals requires proof of liability insurance.
  7. Receipt of acceptable criminal background report from Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and county sheriff ‘s office of permanent address before starting position as required by ORC 3319.39 & OAC 5123:2-2-02.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

Must have high school diploma or equivalent. 

Willing to learn federal, state, and local regulations, dietary guidelines, safety practices, ability to prepare food, operation of kitchen equipment, new equipment and what is needed at facility, bookkeeping, filing, use of office machines inclusive of but not limited to copier, computer, calculator and fax.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

Must be able to move individuals who are receiving services including adults and children in a safe manner. Must be able to lift, carry and move office supplies, materials, and equipment required for day-to-day operations.

If required by the position you must maintain a current driver’s license in your residing state for the purpose of transporting individuals who are receiving services and/or operation of a Board owned vehicle.
