Job Purpose Located in Bowling Green, Ohio, the Senior Accountant is responsible for serving as a support to the controller and the finance department in ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Key Responsibilities Perform transaction recording, maintenance and review of inventory activity on a daily basis, along with reconciliation of value and quantities at month-end Assist with month-end close activities including the preparation, review and posting of journal entries, and review and critiquing of assorted analyses and reports Review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled with resolution to reconciling items Review reconciliation of general ledgers, and prepare the initial draft of financial statements Review and analyse intercompany and intracompany accounts for balancing Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents; verify and analyse business records, transactions, and procedures as necessary and appropriate Assist with and prepare documents requested for any special or scheduled project Assist with and participate in any and all accounting efforts in integration of new business units and newly acquired companies Learn and be able to perform functions of processing accounts payable and accounts receivable as a back-up for personnel who are absent Take charge on special projects and lead fellow associates to desired end result To work in accordance with all policies in relation to health and safety Other tasks as assigned / required
Essential Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of progressive experience in Accounting Strong Excel skills High attention to detail Desirable, but not necessary CPA license Working knowledge of Sage ERP Working knowledge of COGNOS Technically and technologically competent Key Competencies Task and project Able to analyze problems and implement effective solutions Well organized with good attention to detail Uses time efficiently Leadership Exhibits confidence in self and others Acts as a resource to others Team work and communication Able to work well within a team and build effective relationships, internally and with external customers Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms Maintains confidentiality Self-management and motivation Able to use own initiative to complete a task Confident, enthusiastic and a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude Adapts flexibly to new challenges and circumstances
