Job Description
- Work directly with suppliers to plan and implement typical quality activities such as supplier evaluation (audit), PPAP, problem solving, corrective action, and change point control.
- Analyze problems with purchased products and outsourced processes to develop and implement timely solutions and mitigate supply chain risks to material flow and product quality.
- Disposition suspect or non-conforming material and products in a timely manner.
- Train and monitor external sort personnel on quality requirements, documentation, BAPM procedures and expectations, as related to supplier sort / rework activities.
- Assist in the timely and successful completion of APQP (launch) activities.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with suppliers as strategic partners
- Develop and maintain positive relationships, with BAPM personnel, through active participation in cross functional activities.
- Monitor report and take action upon supplier performance as required.
- Complete other projects and duties as assigned by the Manager of Supplier (Outsource) Quality.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience and education
- 4 years’ experience in the automotive industry focusing on quality functions such as PPAP, APQP, continuous improvements, auditing, and measurement systems analysis.
- 1-2 years’ experience in supplier control and development (international supply base preferred).
- Technical competency in core quality tools such as auditing, blueprint reading, GD&T and MSA, PPAP, APQP, root cause analysis, corrective action and continuous improvement.
- 1 years’ experience in a leadership role including leading continuous improvement activities.
- Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a relative field such as electrical, mechanical, manufacturing or automotive engineering degree.
- Experience in and a working knowledge of aluminum casting, metal stamping, welding, cold heading, forging, heat treatment, plastics molding, rubber molding, conversion coating and rubber to metal bonding processes.
