Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Vehicle Aide to ride the school bus to and from school while supervising the health and wellness of students with developmental disabilities. 

The Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) coordinates services for over 1,000 people with developmental disabilities in Wood County. Our mission is to support, empower, and inspire. The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated problem solver, flexible, detailed oriented and is a team player with time management, organizational skills, and leadership skills.

 

Job Responsibilities

Rides bus to supervise behavior and activities of persons with developmental disabilities while enroute to/from facilities, maintains safe environment and detects conditions which may threaten safety of passengers.

Check/monitor safety devices for enrollees and ensure all devices are operable and safely applied, which shall include the operation of lifts. Assist enrollees when entering/exiting bus.  Initiate/maintain records/documentation during transportation time.  Will complete and prepare requested reports.

Shall be responsible for implementing behavior support plans and prescribed measures and techniques for medical issues.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Must be 18 years old
  2. Successful completion of general orientation.
  3. Receipt of seven acceptable background required by ORC 3319.39 & OAC 5123:2-2-02.
  4. Must obtain and maintain any training, licenses, registration, or certification mandated by the Board and the State of Ohio.
  5. Must have a medical examination and a one-step PPD test to determine fitness for duty prior to providing direct care service or within 30 days of employment whichever comes first.
  6. Possess/maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record (if required for position) per board guidelines. NOTE: Use of personal vehicle for transporting individuals requires proof of liability insurance.
  7. Receipt of acceptable criminal background report from Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and county sheriff ‘s office of permanent address before starting position as required by ORC 3319.39 and/or OAC 5123.081.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

Must be able to move individuals who are receiving services including adults and children in a safe manner. Must be able to lift, carry and move office supplies, materials, and equipment required for day-to-day operations.

If required by the position you must maintain a current driver’s license in your residing state for the purpose of transporting individuals who are receiving services and/or operation of a Board owned vehicle.E
