Position Summary: The fabricator / welder will prepare, weld and fabricate metal structures and components per drawing specifications. Welding is expected to meet AWS D1.1 standard.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble and tack weld steel weldments per drawing specifications
- Beveling, part clean up and grinding of parts
- Cutting, sawing, notching, drilling, and fitting of parts
- Fit up and removal of purchased components
- Post weld clean up and paint preparation
- Perform quality inspection
- Meet welding and dimensional tolerances
- Maintain & operate machinery and equipment according to specifications & safety guidelines
The employee is responsible for maintaining their work environment, such as sweeping floors, removing debris, wrapping up hoses / extension cords, storing & returning tools to their proper locations when done with use and / or at the end of their shift and maintaining an overall safe work environment.

Required Skills / Abilities:
- MIG welding
- Oxyfuel cutting with a hand torch
- Plasma cutting with a hand torch
- Use of miscellaneous hand tools and equipment
- Operate an overhead crane
- Operate a forklift
- Rigging of weldments
Work Relationships and Scope: This position reports to the Team Leader. Daily interaction is required amongst team members and shop personnel.
Performance Expectations: Safety, quality, accuracy, efficiency, reliability and thoroughness of work performed; gains the trust and respect of the shift supervisor and fellow team members; develops good working relationships with team members. Develops working knowledge of the production environment and has ability to respond to change. Work to continuously improve the operations of the Company through lean activities and improvement suggestions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge and experience with MIG welding. Position requires good mathematical ability and ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings. Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, square).
Working Conditions: This position works in a production environment with the risk of injury. Safety equipment & designated PPE must be worn when working in the shop. This position requires an individual to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and twist. Bending, lifting and pushing up to 50 lbs. is required. Must be able to tolerate legally permissible exposure to dust and chemicals.
